The Baobian Electric's "Economical and Compact Power Flow Control Equipment Based on Phase Shifter Technology" R&D project is the core of the "Economical and Compact Power Flow Control Equipment and Engineering Application Supporting Efficient Consumption of New Energy" project. It was selected as one of the first (set) major technical equipment in the energy sector by the National Energy Administration in its fourth batch. Applied to the first domestic power transmission phase shifter project—the Jiangsu Yangzhou 110kV Ping'an Transformer Phase Shifter Demonstration Project—it effectively solves problems such as voltage exceeding limits and line overload caused by high-proportion new energy access, significantly improving the local consumption level of new energy and achieving closed-loop operation of the regional power grid. The project results have passed third-party authoritative testing, and key performance indicators have met or exceeded national and international standards.
The company completed the development of its first phase shifter in 2003. After more than 20 years of continuous development, it has completed the development of more than 30 products of different specifications, becoming the only domestic manufacturer that has mastered the complete technical system of phase shifters and has engineering supply performance. It maintains a leading position in the field of phase shifter equipment development and AC power grid power flow flexible control.
The company has been deeply involved in the standardization of phase shifters, leading the drafting of multiple national, industry, group, and State Grid enterprise standards, filling gaps in domestic phase shifter standards. The design department, relying on Zhang Dong's Innovation Studio, collaborated with relevant units to overcome key technologies such as compact body structure design, phase shifter application scenario adaptation, and split-distributed switch applications, developing multiple new phase shifter prototypes to fully meet the needs of domestic new power system construction. The company's first domestically developed single-core phase shifter transformer was applied to the Hebei Zhengding Flexible AC/DC Transmission and Distribution Demonstration Project, providing a solution for flexible interconnection of county-level distribution networks with a high proportion of renewable energy.
The company will continue to increase its R&D investment, strengthen collaborative research and development between industry, academia and research institutions, improve its product system of large-capacity, high-voltage and multi-functional phase shifters, accelerate the application of scientific research results, and provide equipment support for flexible power grid flow control and safe and efficient consumption of high proportion of new energy.
